Keywords

Special keyword abilities and when they trigger.

Keywords are special abilities that appear on cards. Each keyword triggers at a specific moment during gameplay. Understanding the timing of each keyword is critical to using them correctly.

PLAY

A PLAY ability triggers as its cost is paid — at the moment the card enters play. The effect resolves immediately when the card is played from hand.

ATTACK

An ATTACK ability triggers before the fight resolves. When a Unit with ATTACK initiates combat, this ability resolves first, before any power comparison or damage is dealt.

FLIP

A FLIP ability triggers when the card is flipped face-up. This applies primarily to Legends — when you spend 2 Eddies to flip a Legend, its FLIP ability resolves at that moment.

BLOCKER

A Unit with BLOCKER can be spent (turned sideways) to redirect a rival's attack away from its intended target. The BLOCKER intercepts the attack and becomes the new target of the fight instead.

Spending a BLOCKER to intercept an attack uses up the Unit for that turn — it cannot attack or block again until readied.

GO SOLO

GO SOLO allows you to pay the listed cost to play a card as a ready Unit — it enters the Field in a ready (upright) state instead of spent. A Unit played via GO SOLO can attack immediately on the same turn it is played, bypassing the normal restriction that prevents Units from attacking the turn they arrive.

GO SOLO is the only way to attack with a Unit on the turn it is played. Without it, Units must wait a full turn before they can fight.
